- Rasner (who?)
- Pavano
- Mussina (not too serious...)
- Cano (reactivated - hammy injury)
- Small (reactivated early in the season)

Season Advantage: Yankees (9) over Red Sox (18)
Current Advantage: Yankees (8) over Red Sox (11).
(Note: Abreu and Cabrera performing about as well as Sheff and Matsui.)

Conclusion: Yankees were never down and out. They never had a team that couldn't have been in first place. Even without Sheffield and Matsui they still had more payroll and more all-stars and more gold gloves and more this and more that than any other team. The fact that they weren't in first all year long is what is shocking and the Red Sox should be commended for their effort. I'm not trying to attack the Yankees here though it may seem. I am merely pointing out that everyone moaned and groaned about the Yankees injuries which was the biggest media scam of the season.

I'm proud of my Boston Red Sox. They've worked hard and proved they could play. They weren't even expected to be in contention at the beginning of the year yet they performed all year long wearing themselves and the short bench down. Perhaps with a few deadline moves they could have held it together but going out their and giving it 100% like they did every day wore them down. I deeply respect that and am proud of them for it.
